Alessia Santi

I was born on the day of the Ides of March and I like to think this has a magical significance.

alex photographerEven as a child I loved the adventure and travel so far I wanted to become a modern Indiana Jones.

Instead, I studied Interior Design and practice karate for years.

I'm loving photography ever since I fell in love for National Geographic, a magazine I hope one day to be working for.

My greatest desire is knowing the world and different cultures and photographing them.

Alexander Kesselaar

Alexander Kesselaar was born and bred in Bremen, Germany 1977 to a Dutch father and German mother. Raised in the entertainment industry he was involved in German Television from an early age and so began his fascination of all forms of media and it’s creation.

alexander Kesselaar photographerAfter completing school, he worked in TV Production for several years.
In 2000, he moved to Australia to study at the Academy of Photogenic Arts in Sydney, specializing in Editing and Production Management. As part of the course Alex was also introduced to photography. After completing the course he founded his own production company and produced various commercials, music videos, short films and worked on some feature projects.
Throughout this time, Alex always came back to photography as his preferred medium for creative self-expression.

As well as loving the craftsmanship and nostalgia of old fashioned film-photography, Alex has always embraced new technology. So when he got his first iPhone, he soon started using it for his photography and created the daily iPhoneography Project. Since October 2009 Alex has taken one photo each day, edited, processed and posted every image, straight from his iPhone to his flickr photostream.

"I was always one of these photographers who really liked the idea of  always carrying my SLR Camera around everywhere I go. In reality however I really could’t be bothered. It is bulky, obtrusive and very obvious when you use it. I got my first iPhone around 2 years ago... I never really considered the iphone as a serious image capturing device until I started discovered all these nifty little apps... I started experimenting with different settings and filters and thought that although they lacked the high resolution of my professional gear, they still were beautiful and had artistic merit. I think using the iphone as a creative tool has taught me, that it really doesn't take a ten-thousand dollar Camera to take a great photo."

In October of 2010 Alexander published his first iPhoneography Book, “iPhoneography 365”.

"My main inspiration comes from everything that surrounds me. I usually don't go out to shoot something specific. It is usually fairly intuitive. I just notice a certain scene unfolding and try to capture it.  It's more about finding beauty in the simple, mundane things. Which is really contrary to my professional photography work. I always try to look at everything as if I am seeing it for the first time. I believe that there is beauty everywhere we look. That makes it very easy to find inspiration."

Alex is now an award winning professional photographer with over 8 years of experience. Specialising in Commercial, Event, Corporate & Fine Art Photography, his clients include Nintendo, Ambulance NSW, Regional Arts NSW and Porter & Novelli among others. Alexander’s personal projects have been exhibited all over the world.

He is happily married and living Sydney with two children and is a professional photographer, videographer, webdesigner and creative & technical director.

Andrea Morando

I was born in Genoa in October 1979, here I have lived since now.

andrea morando photographerI define myself an observer, more than a photographer.
My favorite kinds of photography are portraits and street photography.
I love to observe people in their daily life, walking in the street, relaxing on a bench.

Taking a picture of those moments is like to take them out from their lives for a while, and, in that while, to become part of their lives.

Human figure, directly or not, is always present in my pictures.
What else to say? I don't like to speak about me... Let my pictures do it!

He has also held several exhibitions.

Beatrice Avallone

Beatrice Avallone was born in Asti, an Italian town, on the 9th of April 1991, and she certainly isn’t a photographer.

Beatrice Avallone photographerYou could instead define her as a real egoist: she loves to steal moments, using her camera lens, so that she can make them all hers. This is what she is talented at, almost naturally, despite the fact that she has never studied this art. She just steals without a care, smiles, emotions, sensations or objects (and subjects) of every kind: she sees something that she likes and wants, no matter what, and click, she captures it. It’s easy to believe when you consider that her first word was “mine” instead of “mamma”.

Chiara Balletti

Hi! I'm Chiara Balletti, I'm 28 years old, almost 29. I live in Genoa and work as a translator. I am married to Roberto, and in September I will become a mother!
I love traveling, singing, playing guitar, reading, photographing and spending time with friends.
I love to capture the important moments of my life, I love photographing people that I love and the significant places of my life.
chiara balletti photo genoaWhat are the significant places in my life?
Genoa, the city where I was born and where I currently live, London, where I spent a year and many other places I have seen passing through: Prague, Paris, Cadaqués, New York, San Francisco, the natural parks of the United States, the Hawaii, Vienna, Munich, Brussels, Siena, Florence, Rome, Venice, Berlin, Val d'Aosta, Cinque Terre, Valencia, Freiburg, Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast ...
My Dream is to continue to travel with my new family!

Consuelo Zemello

She lives and works in Venice.
She studied engineering "playing" with numbers and is trying to direct her needs of rationality - which knows no faith - towards work.
In her free time she loves to travel and capture images, responding to an innate need  for escape and research.

consuelo zemello italian photoThus her passions: numbers in a row in order to understand, the lens between her eyes and the world.
Among various projects related to photography, in 2008 she published the four-handed book  "Tampyti", investigating possible contamination between writing and images.

Her still life and abstract pictures are the backdrop for a series of short stories. The purpose is: to turn into forms the emotions arising from reading stories. One of this photos was selected by photographer Claudio Abate and published on the website of the Mart, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto.

In recent years she has ventured into set photos, shooting, during the filming, of a couple of amateur films. Framing people has had a disruptive effect.
The practical experience gained so far, working mostly with landscapes and objects, has inevitably been brought into question in front of a changeable subject as a human being is. And this experience has certainly produced transformations in her relationship with the lens.
Furhtermore, she loves to create personal travel stories, selecting some of the snapshots taken around the world. The different places on the planet offer the visitor each time different ideas. The mere will to take pictures means to take home a part of that gift and thus have time to process it.

To move all these experiences is always the same thrust: to cross her own experience with the evocative power of an image, so that it is the guardian of an emotion.

Now featured on numerous blogs, books, his work has been shown in galleries worldwide. Images of his iPhoneography are available in book form, calendars, and tee-shirts as well as prints.

I live in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. It is a very unique alternative life style area of the city and one of the few places that allows posters on poles. I found the images so interesting that I started taking photos of them with people walking by.

Fotos for Favelas

Lais Lacher fotos for favelas Lais Lacher

I am an avid traveler, philanthropist, photographer and fashinista. I was born in Bellingham Washington to an American father and Brazilian mother.
I have traveled to over fifteen countries frequently combining travel with my passion for philanthropy and photography. I traveled to Calcutta, India in 2009 with the organization High Cloud to provide support to an orphanage. I most recently spent seven months traveling throughout Brazil.
During my last month in Brazil I volunteered in one of Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, Rocinha with the organization UMPMRS (União de Mulheres Pró-Melhoramento da Roupa Suja). While I was there I taught a photography class to eleven children that were participants in UMPMRS’ after school program. In addition to classes, all of the children had individual time slots where they were
given the opportunity to take photos around their neighborhood using a Nikon D-60 SLR digital camera.
The photos that the children took are unique because they depict a favela, (a Brazilian shantytown) through the eyes of those who live there. They do not focus on the poverty, violence or politics that are often portrayed by the media.
Instead, the photos focus on unique images created by the children and their interpretation of the place that is their home. When I returned to the United States I wanted to continue to be involved with the community in Rocinha and created Fotos For Favelas.
Through Fotos For Favelas I am selling the children’s photos to raise money for their community.

On SevenDays In, the children’s photos are displayed in two collections.
The first collection depicts the urban and gritty side of a favela with the brick and concrete buildings and houses, exposed wiring and plumbing, and general lack of nature.
The second collection focuses on the lively side of the favela with pictures of children, flowers and colorful houses.

The money raised from these prints will be destinated to Fotos for Favelas.

Giampietro Mattolin, photographer (www.fotomattolin.it) and traveler for over 30 years always looks for the "click" in a travel experience. He looks for the contrast between light and shadow in landscapes,  people and situations,  capturing the essence of details.

giampietro mattolinIn 2005 he won the "de Pisis" prize at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art "Landscapes" in Ferrara.
In 2006 he published the book "Himalaya - places spiritual culture", with text by writer and journalist Piero Verni.
In 2007 he published the book "MUSTANG - One step from Heaven", a photo guide with texts by journalist Florence Auriemma and foreword by Piero Verni.
On the same year he exhibited in the context of the Palladian Villa Caldogno, a personal exibition, dedicated to the elderly. It's title was "Parallel Lives". This exibition revived in 2008 under the 6th edition of "Ethical-mind" of a Cintello Teglio Veneto (VE).

In 2000 he founded the association "HERITAGE - beyond borders" (www.heritage-oltreiconfini.org) to promote the spreading of creative expressions from different origins but, beyond communication, the association wants to turn the interest around every cultural event into a concrete support.

The theme of sustainable development is central in the projects of the association, that looks to a community and its culture, especially it regards ethnic minorities with a cultural heritage under threat of disappearing or it is passing through important transitions that need intercultural exchanges.

The support wants to become action also making an offer of travel (www.travelsoul.net) regarsing the project the Association wants to support.

Leah Dee

Leah Dee is a 22 year old Sydney-sider, with a passion for shooting the natural & decayed environment surrounding us.

leah dee photographerLeah began photography in April, 2010, to escape the pressures of university.
Soon after, this hobby became a passion for Leah & became a prominent part of Leah’s life by October, 2010.

Beginning with capturing macro shots of the natural surroundings, Leah has developed her skills by trial & error & has begun capturing photographs of the decayed & manmade environment around us.

Unlike other photographers, Leah had unusual “artillery”. Her artillery consisted of digital & film weapons; primary using just a basic compact camera. In late 2011, Leah upgraded & purchased a digital & a film SLR.

Despite having Photoshop Elements 8.0, Leah strives to get the best shot from the start as her philosophy is that great photos don’t need dramatic editing...& she says she can’t use photoshop that well anyway.

Luca Stauder

When I was 7 years old, my father brought me my first camera... no that's another story, perhaps already heard. If I talk about my relationship with photography, everything is less noble, more direct and problematic.
My first camera, an Olympus XA2, was a gift for my First Communion, and the result was a film finished during the party, without inspiration: more for the mechanical gesture and the sound of the click.

luca stauder italian photographerI use to say that photography is part of my life as an application of my main vocation: do it yourself. Not the simple DIY, I mean with more open-minded taste to apply and be an incentive to do anything with my hands, strength, ability... (and, inevitably, the DIY too).

Thus I combined the "Do It Myself" with my other obsession: the systemic-functional analysis of things and tools (ok, I can truly say that when I was a child I had fun to disassemble and to reassemble watches, calculators etc... and I swear they always resumed their normal operation, if not better) with an interest in the aesthetic side of everything that surrounds me here.
I love photography and image in particolar. But if I look at the abundance of photographers, artists and their production and reproduction, I often get sick from a saturation of feelings disconnected from meaning.

Futhermore I criticize myself and I can say I look at few of my photos with satisfaction. A satisfaction tied up to the feelings the photo should suggest: the story telling, the contingency of a second, the organization of a scene according to an aesthetic that would bring the image to that sense of perfection we can read into reality.
Perhaps is too rhetorical, but I really think the photo as the design (now you can discover my studies) should be fully fulfilled  when no longer is left to clear away, coming out as essential in the light-color composition, without losing its function that is, in fact, to tell us a story.

Marco De Lellis

Marco does not love to be indoor, any excuse is good in order to go to snoop about in turn and its photos reflect this way to see the life.

Michele Lepera

Who am I?
Am I a photographer?
No.
I'm shortsighted.

michele lepera photographerAnd the  desire for  a nearsighted is to be able  to "see" from infinite points of view.

And in order to see I need to squint my eyes, to focus and try to lose as little as possible or, at least, not lose the essential.

I like to tell stories, especially without speaking.

Sometimes I can do it with photography, sometimes writing.

These are some pictures of my stories.

Robert Greebon

I like to be outside, and photography lends itself to that. My friends and family mostly don’t understand why I like to awaken early to enjoy (and sometimes photograph) sunrise.

Rob GreebonI’m not a coffee drinker, and I think this doesn’t play to my favor sometimes.

The act of crawling out of bed when the first sunlight is still hours away, climbing into the car and driving/hiking to a desired location, and then capturing it on a small digital chip is sometimes a little harder than it should be. Often this is true because my wife and I have two little girls who often do not sleep through the night.

But sometimes the effort is worth it, all things come together and the sky lights up for a fleeting moment like Beethoven’s Symphony #9.

I am a self-taught photographer.
I’ve learned from books, from others, and mostly from my own experiences – from both my failures and successes. I don’t get caught up in what brand of camera one uses. When I see a captivating image, apart from the technical aspects of it, I don’t care much what it was shot with. I just want to enjoy the image.

I currently reside in Austin, Texas, with my family.
I’ve been hired, published, rejected, sometimes appreciated and sometimes not, and even made a little money along the way. I hope you enjoy my photography as we continue on this journey.

Skip Hunt

Skip Hunt, born on the wind-swept plains of Oklahoma, is a professional photographer in Austin, Texas. He picked up a 35mm camera in the mid-1970's and has never stopped sharing his unique vision via photographic images.

Skip Hunt KaleidoscopeofcolorMany moons ago, he was bitten hard by the wanderlust beast and has been canvassing the globe ever since. Visionary artists such as Pete Turner, David Lynch, Cindy Sherman, and Andre Kertesz set Skip's sight on a fine-art horizon early on.
His insatiable thirst for rich color and even richer cultural exploration keeps him on the road most of the time.

When he's recharging his batteries, he calls Austin, Texas home.

My philosophy
, by Skip Hunt.
I am beginning to believe that we are all born asleep and that the rest of our lives are spent trying to awaken. Some of us may be born awake... some awaken in stages, falling back into slumber between moments of absolute lucidity... while some remain comfortably dozing all their lives.
Should we even want to be awakened?
Or should we remain comfortably snoozing and not even bother asking why?

I don't know the answer to that. Nor do I know if we have a choice in the matter. What I do suspect is that some of the answers might be found within something called "intuition."

"Intuition is a combination of historical (empirical) data, deep and heightened observation, and an ability to cut through the thickness of surface reality. Intuition is like a slow motion machine that captures data instantaneously and hits you like a ton of bricks. Intuition is a knowing, a sensing that is beyond the conscious understanding -- a gut feeling. Intuition is not pseudo-science." Abella Arthur

The reason I bring up intuition is that from an early age I gravitated to whatever mysteriously resonated for me. Creating things, playing with sound, doodling, etc. Always compelled to make something that wasn't there before... or giving in to a simple creative yearning I suppose.

One day, my mother brought home a 35mm camera. I looked at it and had this feeling at my core that I can't explain, but I feel like that was likely my first strong encounter that has become a lifelong dance with intuition. I just held the camera and knew I must learn how to use it. It was an instantaneous knowing of sorts.
From then on I was intently focussed on examining the perceived world from every angle I could find. The further I explored in distance and or detail, the more I discovered how utterly enchanting our shared universe is. From every difference in color, texture, and line, I began to understand more fully the infinite possibilities of form.

Intuition has led me through 17 countries thus far, and counting. The further I explore, the more I realize how much of this incredible beauty is perpetually unfolding around us and also simultaneously within.
When I share these images with others and learn they've also resonated with them in some mysterious way as well, it proves my suspicion that all is indeed one and everything is defined by a difference in sacred frequency vibration.

Image making reminds me to awaken from the slumber and to celebrate life's rich pageantry parading all around us.
